It was a beautiful autumn day. Just perfect for an afternoon stroll. As intense as my days are when I’m in Poland, I always try to see my family. This time I went to see my expecting cousin. Alexandra was thrilled when she found out that she is with child. And so was everyone in our family. In all fairness, everyone went nuts! Even my mum made her a giant package with all sorts of baby clothes and bits and pieces.
I borrowed my dad’s car and drove all the way to Katowice. Aleksandra and her husband to be live at the edge of the city centre, and I really love this area as the ZOO along with the beautiful park are within walking distance. While driving, I got lost quite a few times, but finally I managed to reach the destination. I thought I would be a nice surprise for my cousin to see me, but somebody must have called her up since she was waiting for me at the car park.
I didn’t have time to be disappointed, though, because the kettle was already on, and I was dying for a hot cuppa. Almost an hour of catching-up later, we managed to get ready to go. We went to the park next to the ZOO and re-explored it all over again. The sticky sweet smell of maple trees and baked apples was in the air. Warm weather made our stroll quite pleasant. Alexandra claimed to know the park well, but I made her look at it from quite a different perspective.
Golden leaves were shining in the sun. Even green plants seemed to be warmer than normal. Aleksandra was posing like a true professional. She couldn’t take her eyes off her adorable baby bump. The look of autumn was definitely the right season.
Oh, did I mention that Tymek (my nephew) is due on the 10th of November? That’s Alexandra’s birthday. What a surprise!
