On Monday 23rd March 2020 UK was put down to a lockdown due to COVID-19 outbreak. This had an impact on the whole entertainment industry. A lot of photographers and other suppliers has lost their predicted income and motivation to do anything ever since.

On Thursday 23rd April, exactly one month after the UK has been locked across the country, Thomas Rose, from Fusion Light and Sound has invited me to join his project. He and his team have decided to light up the 100 meters tall IKEA Towers in Croydon in blue to pay respects to all frontliners. We felt really personal about this as we all know at least one person working for the NHS or keyworkers and we wanted to show our support in these difficult times.

Tom and his team have spent pretty much all day, placing out all of his equipment and programming the lights. It was a lot harder than we initially thought. It was only after the sunset when the guys could have positioned the lights in the correct place, and once the dusk came, the magic has happened.

At 8pm people were clapping, we heard fireworks and emergency services sirens in the distance. Both of the towers were lit up in NHS Blue with lasers displaying NHS logo and thank you messages to our keyworkers and heros. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the Fusion team for having me and giving me a purpose during this rather challenging situation.

A special thank you to the whole hard-working team: Tom Rose, Kieran Edmonds & Nick Jemicz. This wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for you.
